John D. Katz is a litigator with over twenty-five years of civil experience representing clients in both State as well as Federal Courts. After graduating law school, he served as an Assistant District Attorney with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office for over five years, successfully obtaining a high number of jury trial verdicts at both the misdemeanor and felony levels.

Since that time, he has been practicing in the civil litigation field and he now has over two and a half decades of civil defense experience defending clients in actions involving medical malpractice, dental malpractice, labor law, N.Y. Child Victims Act litigation, products liability, aviation law, toxic torts and various general liability areas, as well as more specific areas of professional liability, including legal malpractice and insurance broker malpractice. For over a decade, he specialized in dental malpractice defense, representing oral and maxillofacial surgeons as well as general dentists and various dental specialists at depositions and at trial. He is also highly experienced in defending professionals in disciplinary matters, having appeared and successfully defended clients before both the New York State Office of Professional Discipline as well as the Office of Professional Medical Conduct. He has several dental malpractice jury trial defense verdicts to his credit.

John graduated from the University of Lynchburg, with a B.A., cum laude, in Psychology and Political Science and then received his Juris Doctor from Washington & Lee University. He is admitted to the New York State Bar and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. John has also conducted lectures for his dental client practices regarding overall risk management and practice protocols, as well as proper dental charting procedures.
