On February 2, 2018, Jeffrey Nichols obtained a unanimous defense verdict following a three week medical malpractice trial in Kings County Supreme Court. The case involved the wrongful death of a 73 year old woman following shoulder replacement surgery. Mr. Nichols represented a cardiologist who evaluated the patient prior to surgery and again seven hours before her death. Plaintiff alleged that the patient had a significant cardiac history, with multiple risk factors, which warranted close monitoring in a Telemetry Unit. Mr. Nichols did not dispute causation, rather, successfully demonstrated that the patient was stable and did not require telemetry monitoring.
